Explanation of the entries in the table:
Check digit: automatic check digit calculation.
Characters:
the bar code can either represent letters and digits or just digits.
Number of characters: 'n' indicates a variable number of characters in the barcode.
W/N adjustment: the ratio between wide and narrow bar thicknesses can be adjusted.
Standard ratio: W/N ratio if no other indications are given.
Default space: width of the space in dots if no other indications are given.
Auto link: a cross indicates that the content of the barcode can be depicted automatically in a description field.
Special font: this font is required to depict a standard symbol.

EAN:

12 or 13 digits are needed for an EAN-13, 7 or 8 digits are needed for EAN-8. An additional 2 digits are needed for ADDON-2. The check digit is checked if it is indicated, otherwise it is calculated.
